This workshop teaches the fundamentals of stop-motion animation. Topics covered include storyboarding, composition, and animation principles, as well as how to design and create a character for stop-motion animation. Students will put their skills into practice by working in small teams to bring their own stories to life by using traditional stop-motion techniques.

Overall, this workshop involves:

  • Basic story structure for writing a story and storyboarding.
  • Animation principles including squash and stretch, timing and staging.
  • Creating a wire armature designed for stop-motion animation.
  • Designing and creating techniques for stop-motion characters.
  • Camera angles, shot sizes, and composition.
